New-Moon Stud continues with their support and hosting for the annual Wingello Forest Endurance Ride.
The weather gods smiled down on Wingello for the 8th annual event, turning on the most glorious Highlands Autumn weekend – sunny, calm, and even warm!
Horses and ponies of all colours, shapes and sizes brought their riders to enter in the six events on offer, creating a record 329 entries across the weekend. The additional 20km ride on Sunday proved popular, enabling introductory competitors to ride on both Saturday and Sunday.
Chief Stewards Haydn Fisher, Tony Warren and all the vets did a superb job, remaining calm, cool, friendly and welcoming to the many first-time competitors, despite running at full steam with the unexpected numbers!
The Wingello Forest Ride is blessed with a fabulous volunteer team, of which each and every one is Cherished! These amazing people tackle a variety of roles – visible tasks such as TPRing, timekeeping, pencilling, and office registrations, as well as invisible but mighty important roles such as track marking, track checking, tent erection, computer entries, radio communications, campfire construction, first aid, and the list goes on.
Congratulations to Talea Hasko-Stewart riding Blake’s Heaven Bombora, who took out Line Honours and 1st MWT in a riding time of 4:03hrs.
