Bec and Darren have just spent a fabulous week in the Northern Caucasus region of Russia visiting several horse studs in the area, including the famous Tersk Arabian Stud.  Being part of a breeders tour was a wonderful opportunity to view and discuss the breeding horses, and the goals and plans of the stud with the Stud Managers.  Several of the Arabian lines dominating the breeding at New-Moon Stud originate from Tersk, and of particular interest, Zariah al Samarra traces her dam line to an Arabian derivative breed known as ‘Terskers’.  The tour co-incided with the Russian National Arabian Championships and Open Day hosted at Tersk, an event certainly worth the trip!
