New-Moon Leopold

In June 2018 we purchased a 2yo unbroken Trakehner gelding ‘New-Moon Leopold‘ directly from New-Moon Stud.

We bought Leo ‘sight unseen’ due to living interstate, yet had the utmost confidence in what we were purchasing as Bec from New-Moon Stud was very accommodating and honest in the way she communicated with us.

Bec answered every question and request for photographs and videos promptly and also assisted in arranging an independent vet check prior to purchase.  There was no question or request that she was not willing to assist with.

2 years on New-Moon Leopold has since been broken in and started at home by our then 12 year old daughter (with some help from mum and dad).  He showed no sign of ‘dirty’ behavior when being backed and was always willing to please.

After initially being broken in approximately 12 months ago (Feb 2019) he was spelled briefly over winter before being brought in again to start competition preparation.  Leo has three excellent paces, is well conformed and we have been very impressed by the quiet, obliging and trainable nature Leo demonstrates day to day.  He has had several dressage, showjumping and cross country outings and continued to demonstrate a calm, relaxed demeanor around other horses both in arenas and open xc paddocks.

If all the young stock being produced at New-Moon Stud are as confident, well conformed and obliging as New-Moon Leopold has been for us, we would certainly have no hesitation in recommending Bec and Darren Hogan from New-Moon Stud to potential purchasers.  We will certainly be watching their young stock for future purchases.

New-Moon Lady Sofia & New-Moon Marius

I have the privilege of owning NM Lady Sofia and NM Marius, full brother and sister purchased unbroken from New-Moon Stud when each was 5 years old.  The magic of these horses is not only their breeding but that Bec allows them time to develop naturally into sound horses.

My experience of horses has been in showjumping, dressage and endurance.  I had no professional horse training skills but didn’t want to part with either of them for even a day, and didn’t trust anyone to break them in.  My sister suggested I do it myself.  A miracle occurred because I allowed them to teach me to train them in a safe, relaxed and comfortable manner that we both enjoyed at liberty.  I use a rope halter, light shoestring reins and a bareback pad or Zaldi Gobi saddle.

My horses are on 230 acres with other horses and don’t need me for anything.  Yet I can go to the paddock with my horse gear and they come to me freely.  I have worked with them in strong winds, electrical storms and other horses galloping around.  They are completely sound under all conditions.

They are never tied up and stand freely while I put their gear on them.  They will walk freely to my step ladder for me to get on.  A few times Marius has walked away which I thought was odd, but he needed to do a poo and then came back!  Sometimes Sofia has walked past the ladder and stood in the bushes which made me laugh because she keeps me on my toes.

I love and enjoy them both and wouldn’t part with them for any amount of money.  Marius and Sofia taught me that the best horse trainer in the world is your horse.

I am the type of person who will only have the best or nothing at all, and that is the type of horse you will get from New-Moon Stud.
